London City Airport offers several ways to treat your Mum special this Mother’s Day

LONDON, 2017-Mar-21 — /Travel PR News/ — Whisk your Mum to Amsterdam – or one of London City Airport’s 45 destinations – this weekend and treat her to seven million flowers, rather than just the usual bouquet.

March is an ideal time to visit Amsterdam’s Keukenhof Gardens, with its magnificent display of tulips, daffodils and crocuses. At just a 70-minute flight from London City Airport, the capital city is within easy reach for a short city break, served by four airlines including CityJet, British Airways, Flybe and KLM. For a touch of culture, Amsterdam is also currently host to the world-famous Dali and Banksy exhibitions at the Moco museum. For other activities, look at London City Airport’s 24-hour guide to Amsterdam.

Alternatively, why not spoil your Mum with some of Europe’s finest chocolate and wine tasting, with a weekend in Nice? Book one of London City Airport’s early afternoon British Airways flights on Friday and take advantage of the airport’s 20-minute check-in to gate policy to arrive in time for dinner and a long weekend.

For a mix of culture, food and wine, Venice is another easy city break for a Mother’s Day treat. Book one of London City’s morning flights and arrive for a delicious Italian lunch at a canal-side restaurant. Stroll through Campo Santa Margherita before an early evening gondola ride along the Grand Canal.

For a Mother’s Day break closer to home, make that bunch of daffodils extra special with a trip to Cardiff, where the floral national emblem will never be far from view. Flybe’s London City Airport service operates the only flights to the Welsh capital from a London airport, with a speedy air link giving you more time to enjoy the sights, in a city which is already hotly tipped as a contender for the 2021 City of Culture.

Anne Doyere, Head of Sales for UK, Ireland and The Netherlands at London City Airport, said: “Flying from the only airport actually in London minimises the stress of travelling and maximises the spent time abroad, particularly helpful for a short weekend break. With so many destinations available, a city break is an original gift on Mother’s Day.”
