LONDON, 2014-8-26 — /Travel PR News/ — British Airways is celebrating its busiest summer ever at London City with a record number of customers jetting off to 26 destinations from the Docklands airport.
Since the beginning of July nearly 30 per cent more customers have travelled compared to the same period last year and British Airways is also launching a new five-a-day service to Dublin on October 26 as well as increasing frequencies on some of the most popular routes.
This autumn there will be extra weekend flights to Amsterdam, additional daily flights to both Edinburgh and Glasgow and from January there will be a further weekday flight to Edinburgh.
Two extra flights a week from London City to Nice will start just before half term in February through to the start of summer 2015 when it increases to a daily service.
The delivery of three new Embraer 190 jets this year brings the total British Airways fleet at London City to 20 aircraft, providing the extra capacity for the busy routes.
The most popular destinations for customers overall this summer were Edinburgh and Glasgow and the most popular leisure destinations were Ibiza, Majorca and Malaga.
Luke Hayhoe, British Airways’ general manager commercial at London City, said: “We are delighted to see a record number of customers flying from London City Airport especially as we prepare to launch a new route and additional frequencies which are in direct response to what our customers asked us for.”
Each way hand baggage only fares to Dublin are available from £45*, Amsterdam from £49*, Edinburgh from £51* and Nice from £69*. They can be booked on ba.com.
