Finavia has chosen Kuusamo Airport as the airport of the year for 2012. The main selection criteria were financial effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

2012-10-22 — /travelprnews.com/ — “Kuusamo Airport has successfully improved key financial figures and the efficiency of operations. In addition, operating as a customer-oriented service organisation during the past year has been a good thing, and customer satisfaction has increased through it. Smooth air travel and positive experiences, friendliness and cosiness are the foundation of the Finavia customer experience and Kuusamo accounts well for this. A well-functioning airport provides important support for the region’s business sector, particularly tourism,” says Kari Savolainen, CEO of Finavia.

Significant factors in meeting the goals include motivating leadership and the work input and commitment of the entire airport staff. Kuusamo has also worked hard with the implementation of the Finavia HR strategy, which shows through supervisory work and staff development discussions.

The airport of the year is now in its 23th year. The tradition was launched in 1990. The last time Kuusamo was selected Airport of the Year was in 1993. The airport was introduced in 1972 and in 2011, about 92,000 passengers passed via Kuusamo Airport.
