KLM Cityhopper increased its capacity at Leeds Bradford Airport with the introduction of larger aircraft the Embraer 190

LEEDS, UK, 2014-6-24 — /Travel PR News/ — KLM Cityhopper has increased its capacity at Leeds Bradford Airport with the introduction of a new larger aircraft, the Embraer 190, on its regular services to Amsterdam Schiphol, offering an additional thousand seats each week.

The Embraer 190 is more fuel-efficient, has lower carbon emissions, and offers greater passenger comfort alongside more room for carry-on baggage. Moreover, the Embraer flies faster and offers greater capacity than the Fokker 70 which previously serviced the route, increasing the maximum load from 80 to 100 per flight.

Tony Hallwood, Aviation Development & Marketing Director at Leeds Bradford Airport, said:
“We welcome the introduction of the Embraer 190 at Leeds Bradford operating to Amsterdam Schiphol. KLM is one of the longest established airlines at LBA and this new aircraft will soon become a firm favourite for business and leisure travellers alike.”

Warner Rootliep, AIR FRANCE KLM General Manager for the UK and Ireland said: “At Air France KLM we are always listening to passengers’ demand and investing towards the most efficient and environmentally friendly possibilities to increase our capacity. With the introduction of the new Embraer 190 for our Leeds Bradford Airport passengers, we are delighted to be able to increase the capacity of our Leeds – Amsterdam service, which is a very popular route. We hope that enhancing our services from Leeds will result in more passengers using this local airport as their departure point to travel the world”.

KLM Cityhopper, with its SkyTeam partners, connects LBA to hundreds of destinations worldwide with up to four daily flights to Amsterdam. The carrier’s hub, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, offers smooth connections with just 40 minutes connection time for short haul flights and only 50 minutes for long haul flights. Passengers therefore no longer need to travel to a larger airport to experience global travel; KLM offers worldwide connections from the comfort and convenience of Leeds Bradford.
