KLM and Amsterdam Dance Event to compensate CO2 for visitors who flew in on KLM flights
Amstelveen, Netherlands, 2019-Oct-21 — /Travel PR News/ — The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is currently underway. The world’s biggest festival for electronic music attracts 400,000 visitors from more than 100 countries to the Dutch capital. KLM and ADE will compensate CO2 for visitors who flew in on KLM flights.
An international event attracting nearly half a million visitors from all over the planet has an impact on the environment. ADE and KLM felt they should respond accordingly and joined hands to mitigate the ecological impact of the event. Visitors who purchased a combined ADE entry ticket and KLM air ticket, will have their CO2 emissions compensated via the CO2ZERO programme. This cooperation between KLM and ADE fits perfectly in KLM’s Fly Responsibly initiative.
CO2ZERO compensation service
KLM’s CO2ZERO compensation service enables passengers to compensate for their flight-related carbon emissions. Passengers who choose to compensate contribute to the “CO2OL Tropical Mix” reforestation initiative in Panama. This project carries the Gold Standard Global Goals certificate. The project combines the protection of biodiversity and ecosystem restoration with sustainable timber production and small-scale sustainable cacao plantations. Besides the numerous environmental benefits, the project’s activities integrate capacity building and create long-term employment with a sustainable source of income for the local population.
Fly Responsibly
Fly Responsibly embodies KLM’s commitment to creating a sustainable future for air transport. It incorporates all of KLM’s current and future efforts to improve the sustainability of its activities. But true progress can only be achieved if the entire sector cooperates. With “Fly Responsibly”, KLM invites consumers to opt for CO2 compensation services, while companies are invited to compensate for business travel via the KLM Corporate BioFuel Programme.
