Kenya Airways to Introduce 3 Additional Flights to Eldoret

Kenya Airways increases frequency of flights to Eldoret.

Nairobi, 2013-05-30 — /travelprnews.com/ — National carrier, Kenya Airways, has announced an increase in the frequency of flights to the city of Eldoret to meet increased seasonal demand on the route.

From June 2, 2013, the airline will introduce three additional flights on the route every week – on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays. The additional service will bring to 14 the total number of flights operated by Kenya Airways to Eldoret. Currently, the airline operates 11 weekly flights.

With the 3 additional flights, Kenya Airways will effectively operate double daily flights to Eldoret.

On Mondays and Tuesdays the additional flights KQ664 will depart from  Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, at 1710 Hours and arrive Eldoret International Airport at 1810 Hours; KQ665 will depart from Eldoret at 1900 Hours to arrive at Nairobi at 2000 Hours.

On Sundays the additional flight, KQ660, will depart from Nairobi at 0700 Hours and arrive at Eldoret at 0800 Hours. The return flight, KQ661, will depart from Eldoret at 0845 Hours to arrive at Nairobi at 0945 Hours.

Kenya Airways’ Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Titus Naikuni, said that the additional capacity to Eldoret will address the surge in passenger traffic during the summer season driven by tourists.

“This aligns well with our drive to increase our presence in both the domestic and international routes to meet growing demand for air transport services. For Eldoret, this is really important in opening up the North Rift region to tourism,” Dr. Naikuni added.

Eldoret sits in the Rift Valley region with spectacular views and boasts of a variety of tourist attraction sites, in addition to being renowned as the home of top Kenyan athletes.

The new development comes barely a year after Kenya Airways launched daily flights to Eldoret, the country’s fastest growing town, to meet rising travel demand from the middle class and an expanding business community.

The route is served by Embraer E170 aircraft. The airline is in the process of acquiring more aircraft, both wide and narrow body,  in line with its 10-year strategic plan dubbed ‘Project Mawingu’ through which it aims to grow its network of destinations as well as fleet.
