Jersey Millennium Town Park wins Civic Trust Award for 2013 for outstanding contribution to the quality and appearance of the environment

2013-08-19 — /travelprnews.com/ — A plaque has been erected in the Millennium Town Park to mark the park winning a Civic Trust Award for 2013. This is one of two awards that this park has received this year.

Civic Trust awards are given to projects that make an outstanding contribution to the quality and appearance of the environment. The Town Park was one of 263 national and international entries, with 86 projects being recognised for commendation.

In June this year it was also announced that the Millennium Town Park was highly commended in the community category of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) South West Awards.  The Park also won the LGN Street Design Award for Urban Green Space in 2013.

These two awards follow two awards received last year, RHS Britain in Bloom 2012 – Sustainable Landscaping Award and the Jersey Electricity Award for Sustainability as part of the Jersey Construction Council’s Awards 2012.

The Minster for Transport and Technical Services said: “This is well earned recognition for everyone involved in turning this site from a car park with gas works contamination issues into a beautiful urban space that has not only wonderful features for all to enjoy but also has well thought out eco design below ground for rainwater harvesting for irrigation.”
