(PRESS RELEASE) Tokyo, Japan, 2025-Jan-30 — /Travel PR News/ — Japan Airlines (JAL) continues to showcase the richness of Japan’s craft whisky scene with the introduction of two exceptional offerings from the KANOSUKE DISTILLERY. These unique whiskies are part of JAL’s ongoing initiative to introduce passengers to the diverse and high-quality products created by Japan’s artisanal distilleries, fostering deeper connections to the culture through its inflight offerings.
As the sixth product in this distinguished series, JAL will be offering the KANOSUKE HIOKI POT STILL 2024 LIMITED EDITION, an exclusive Japanese-style pot still whisky. This limited-edition release will be available for advanced order on select international flights, alongside the well-loved SINGLE MALT KANOSUKE, a staple product from the distillery.
KANOSUKE HIOKI POT STILL 2024 LIMITED EDITION
The KANOSUKE HIOKI POT STILL 2024 LIMITED EDITION marks the first batch of whisky distilled using the innovative HIOKI POT STILL method, crafted with unmalted and malted barley at the KANOSUKE DISTILLERY. Matured in American white oak, bourbon, and shochu charred casks, this whisky is distinct for its balance of bitterness and sweetness. With complex aromas of crème brûlée, fresh oak, apricots, and green plums, it unfolds rich layers of vanilla, caramel sauce, cocoa, and matcha, culminating in a sweet-bitter finish.
How to Order:
Advance Order Service: This service allows passengers to place online orders for select products and services up to 72 hours before their flight. Availability varies by product and route.
SINGLE MALT KANOSUKE
SINGLE MALT KANOSUKE is the flagship whisky of the KANOSUKE DISTILLERY, renowned for its mellow character and smooth taste. Made from lightly peated pot stills and aged in re-charred American white oak casks, it has a sweet, honeyed aroma with notes of lemon tea. On the palate, the whisky offers a complex spiciness with hints of garlic, ginger, and a subtle smokiness, followed by a lasting sweet bitterness.
How to Order:
SINGLE MALT KANOSUKE is also offered in the JAL First Class Lounge at both Haneda and Narita Airports and on First and Business Class international flights, excluding those to South Korea. Due to limited availability, it may not be accessible on all flights.
About KANOSUKE Distillery
Founded in 1883 by KOMASA JOZO, the KANOSUKE DISTILLERY draws on Kagoshima’s long history of shochu distilling. The fourth generation, Yoshitsugu Komasa, founded KANOSUKE DISTILLERY in 2017, utilizing 60 years of traditional shochu barrel-aging techniques to craft distinctive whiskies. Located by the scenic Fukiage Beach in Hioki City, Kagoshima Prefecture, the distillery merges cutting-edge whisky production with an authentic legacy of local craftsmanship.
Important Notes:
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote Japanese culture and craftsmanship, JAL remains committed to offering its passengers world-class products, such as these unique whiskies, to enrich the inflight experience. Through these offerings, JAL continues its mission to create meaningful connections and elevate the Spirit of Japan for its global customers.
