Allegiant and Spirit inaugural flights take off to Tucson, Fort Myers and Tampa
INDIANAPOLIS, IN, 2019-Nov-15 — /Travel PR News/ — Not one, not two – but three inaugural flights will take off out of the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) today (Nov. 14, 2019), with flights to a new nonstop destination and additional flights heading out to the Sunshine State.
At 1:23 p.m. today, Allegiant Air will launch the first nonstop flight from Indianapolis to Tucson, closing the travel gap to this western hotspot of the United States. And Spirit Airlines will take off at 7 a.m. to Fort Myers, and at 8:59 p.m. Spirit travelers will head to Tampa to soak up the warm, Florida sunshine.
“More flights, more destinations, more low-cost options – it all adds up to tremendous value for the more than 9 million people who fly out of the Indianapolis International Airport each year,” said Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez. “Our airline partners like Allegiant and Spirit are investing in Indy, adding new nonstop destinations and giving travelers more options to existing travel markets.”
Prior to Allegiant’s flight today, Tucson was an unserved destination out of Indianapolis. The Tucson flight will take off out of Indy twice weekly. Spirit’s flights to Fort Myers and Tampa are their fourth and fifth flights out of Indy since launching in March. The Fort Myers and Tampa nonstop flights will depart Indy daily.
Allegiant is set to launch another flight out of the Indy airport later this month when their new flight to West Palm Beach, Fla. takes off. The addition of their Tucson flight brings their current number of flights out of Indianapolis to 14 to date, and the addition of the West Palm Beach flight soon will be bring the total to 15 Allegiant flights leaving out of Indy.
Spirit Airlines is the newest airline to fly out of the Indy airport. Since their launch in March they have added a total of five nonstop flights out of Indy. In addition to today’s flights, Spirit offers nonstop flights to Las Vegas, Orlando and a seasonal nonstop flight to Myrtle Beach. Spirit also can connect Hoosiers to 70 cities in the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean.
