Indianapolis International Airport welcomes new nonstop flights from Southwest, Frontier and Allegiant to Austin, Philadelphia and Sarasota-Bradenton

INDIANAPOLIS, 2018-Apr-10 — /Travel PR News/ — Following on the heels of Allegiant Air’s inaugural flight on Friday to previously unserved Charleston, South Carolina, four additional nonstop flights will take off from the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) over the next seven days, including Allegiant’s inaugural flight to the Sarasota-Bradenton area in Florida – also a previously unserved destination out of Indianapolis.

The Sarasota-Bradenton nonstop flight will launch on April 11, departing Indianapolis twice per week. The Sarasota and Bradenton areas are home to nearby recreational destinations such as Bradenton Beach, Longboat Key and Siesta Key, and a short drive from Gulf Shores and Anna Maria Island.

“We’re thrilled to expand our service at our Indianapolis base with nonstop flights to Sarasota,” said Lukas Johnson, Allegiant senior vice president of commercial. “Sarasota is home to miles of beautiful beaches, but there’s more than meets the eye, and we’re happy to share a sneak peak of all the family-fun there is to be had at the launch party for this new route.”

All Aboard for Austin – Today

For those traveling to Austin, Texas, two Indy airlines will launch inaugural flights to Austin this week. Southwest Airlines will launch its inaugural nonstop flight to Austin today, with Frontier Airlines launching its inaugural nonstop flight on April 10.

“Sarasota and Austin are both nonstop destinations that were unserved until recently,” said Mario Rodriguez, executive director with the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “These are but two of 51 nonstop destinations that are available out of Indy that connect Hoosiers to the most-requested destinations throughout the United States, the Caribbean – and very soon Europe.”

The Southwest flight to Austin will run year-round, and nonstop service will depart out of Indianapolis on Sundays. The Frontier flight will run year-round, and will depart out of Indianapolis on Tuesdays and Fridays.

In addition to offering world-class food, Austin is the home of the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference highlighting the convergence of the interactive, film, and music industries. Austin also maintains the number-three spot in terms of high-tech job growth, according to CBRE Research. These facts make Central Texas attractive to businesses looking for a conference destination or needing a direct connection to Indy’s growing tech industry.

Until recently, Austin also was one of the Indy airport’s top five unserved markets. Including Allegiant, having launched its inaugural flight to Austin in May 2017, three airlines now fly nonstop to the Texas city from Indy.

“Indy’s growth as a top leisure and convention destination, now at a record 28.6 million visitors annually, has been directly tied to our enhanced air service over the past several years,” said Leonard Hoops, president and CEO of Visit Indy. “The newest routes secured by the terrific team at the Indianapolis International Airport and their partners will continue making our city a better place to live, work, play, and visit.”

Philly Flight Flying – Tomorrow

In addition to flights to Sarasota and Austin, Frontier Airlines will launch its nonstop flight to Philadelphia beginning tomorrow on April 9. The seasonal service will depart Indianapolis on Mondays and Fridays. This marks Frontier’s seventh destination out of Indianapolis, and third new flight in the last six months.

The following calendar outlines the new flights taking off his week from Indy. For more information about each nonstop flight, please visit the respective airlines’ website.
