Mumbai, 2012-11-14 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) received the most coveted ‘Best Destination International’ Award on behalf of Thailand at the prestigious “Cinemascape” hosted in Mumbai on 24th-25th October, 2012 at Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai. Now in its 6th year, Cinemascape is the annual gathering of the Indian film fraternity & small screen patrons’ to meet with international tourism destination promoters. Accepting the award on behalf of the TAT, Ms. Suladda Sarutilavan, Assistant Director of TAT Mumbai Office, said, “Thailand is one of the few international locations today which has established a niche in the Indian mainstream cinema. About 464 Indian films were shot in Thailand in during January to September 2012 alone, the second highest number after Japan. Indian filmmakers tell us they find great variety of locations with attractions ranging from shopping, nightlife, eco-tourism products, beaches, culture, and cuisine. Extremely good costs and high professionalism of the production crew are also major contributing factors. We are ecstatic to have received this award and extend our thanks to the Indian film industry”.

Mr. Navin Berry, Chief Coordinator, Cinemascapes said, “When it comes to choosing a destination for film shooting, producers are always looking for ease in shooting. And where do they wish to go? The jury narrowed down to Thailand for its close proximity, visa on arrival policy, ease in getting approvals, the entire gamut of shooting was best facilitated for Indian producers. The country has a rich culture and holiday appeal, which suit Indian themes”.
