Free London eBook and app
Lonely Planet is making its Not for Parents London eBook free on the iBookstore for a limited time. Whether they are visiting the city or watching the Games at home, kids will enjoy discovering the historic, gruesome and quirky facts about the capital, from what it’s like inside Buckingham Palace to Harry Potter locations across the city. Not For Parents London is free until 16th August on the iBookstore.
To help with exploring the city, we are also giving away our London – The City audio walking tour for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The tour takes in sights including St Paul’s Cathedral, the Monument, the Tower of London and a host of lesser-known gems. To get the app, users must first download the free Lonely Planet Travel Guides app onto their device, open the app, tap “Audio Walking Tours” and then scroll down to select “London – The City”. Usually priced at £1.99, the app is free until July 30th.
Lonely Planet store opens its doors at Manchester Airport
The first Lonely Planet store in the Northern Hemisphere has opened its doors at Manchester Airport Terminal 1. The store is only the second of its kind in the world and followers the success of the Lonely Planet shop at Sydney Airport which opened in 2009. In store, travellers have access to every single book that Lonely Planet produces in English language and some of the foreign language guides too, plus a selection of travel products from brands such as Moleskine, Kipling and Eastpak. The store has been specially designed to offer inspiration and helpful advice to travellers, with a digital interactive hub and trained staff who are on hand to answer travel-related questions.
Lonely Planet digital and print bundles now available
All Lonely Planet city and country guides are now available to buy together in guidebook and pdf eBook bundles through our online shop. We are the first guidebook publisher to sell our print guidebooks together with pdf eBooks as one bundle. The move came in response to demand from travellers who want to start planning their trip from the minute they press “buy”. The new bundles give travellers access to a pdf eBook immediately and a guidebook to take on the road (shop.lonelyplanet.com).

Lonely Planet’s magazine has been relaunched as Lonely Planet Traveller with a fresh new look. After taking onboard readers’ feedback, the magazine has made a number of changes including increasing in size to allow even more room for beautiful travel photography.
