(PRESS RELEASE) Abu Dhabi, UAE, 2024-Sep-27 — /Travel PR News/ — IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel groups, has announced a new strategic partnership with Aldar, the prominent real estate developer, to transform six adjoining hotels on Yas Island into a unified luxury resort under the Vignette Collection brand. This ambitious project will involve the refurbishment and rebranding of the Yas Plaza hotels, consolidating them into a single, integrated resort, named Straylight Yas, Vignette Collection. As part of the transformation, the complex will gain private beach access for the first time, enhancing the visitor experience.
The transformation will contribute 1,389 rooms to IHG’s UAE portfolio, establishing Yas Island as a premier destination for luxury, leisure, and entertainment. Additionally, IHG and Aldar will collaborate on the conversion of the Tilal Liwa hotel in the Al Dhafra region into a five-star desert retreat, also under the Vignette Collection brand. This resort, set to soft open later this year, will offer a unique luxury experience with 110 keys, showcasing IHG’s expanding footprint in the region.
Haitham Mattar, Managing Director of IHG for India, the Middle East, and Africa, expressed his excitement for the partnership, stating, “This collaboration marks a pivotal moment for IHG, allowing us to support Abu Dhabi’s goal of strengthening its position as a global family tourism destination. By transforming these properties under the Vignette Collection brand, we are helping to elevate the appeal of Yas Island while contributing to the local tourism economy.”
Yas Island, home to world-class attractions and major events like the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, will see the new integrated resort open in Q4 2025. The complex will feature enhanced amenities including beach villas, golf and beach clubs, an underground tunnel for direct beach access, and a range of new leisure and F&B offerings.
IHG currently operates 33 hotels in the UAE, with 9 more properties set to open in the coming years. The Vignette Collection, part of IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, is rapidly expanding, with plans to grow to over 100 properties globally within the next decade.
