Hong Kong Airlines (HX) to operate Incheon-Hong Kong cargo route 3 times per week

The busiest cargo route of Incheon Airport will see rapid traffic climb

Seoul, South Korea, 2014-3-3 — /Travel PR News/ — The private Hong Kong-based airline, Hong Kong Airlines (HX) was newly recruited and will operate Incheon-Hong Kong route 3 times per week. Incheon-Hong Kong is the busiest cargo route for Incheon Airport

Incheon Airport held a welcoming ceremony at its cargo apron on 27, February at the exact arrival time of the first flight to Hong Kong (4:55 AM).

Established in 2006, Hong Kong Airlines greatly expanded cargo transport business from 2007. It originally opened business with only passenger aircrafts. Today Hong Kong Airlines has 13 destinations, including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and domestic routes within China.

Incheon-Hong Kong is the first cargo route in Korea for Hong Kong Airlines. A330-200F(65t) cargo aircraft will operate 3 times per week (Thursday, Friday, Saturday), mostly delivering IT goods, including general·electronic products, computers, and smart phone parts. Incheon Airport expects 10,000t cargo traffic increase annually with the recruitment of the Hong Kong Airlines.

Hong Kong is the largest cargo destination for Incheon. Cargo traffic between Incheon and Hong Kong recorded 249,590t, comprising 10% of total international cargo of the airport (including direct, transfer and mail). More frequent flights and new inflow for the route is expected with air traffic liberalization in October, 2013 and following global economic recovery including China, which leads to forecasts for increased cargo traffic between the two cities.

International cargo traffic of Incheon Airport recorded 2.5M tons last year, showing a bounce- back toward positive growth after three years of slowdown. Incheon Airport processed 19,8000 tons of cargo year-on-year(8.2% growth) as of January 2014, sustaining growth of 2013 4Q.
