The extension strengthens HMSHost’s long-standing partnership with Miami-Dade County and positions the company to support the airport’s growth as it prepares to accommodate more than 77 million passengers annually by 2040 while continuing to work with local concession partners.
(PRESS RELEASE) BETHESDA, Maryland, 2026-Feb-26 — /Travel PR News/ — HMSHost, the global travel dining company and part of Avolta AG, has secured a 12-year contract extension at Miami International Airport (MIA), ensuring the company’s continued role in shaping the airport’s food and beverage offering during a period of major redevelopment. The renewed agreement includes plans to modernize and enhance more than 20 restaurants, bars and grab-and-go outlets located across the North, Central and South terminals.
The extension aligns with Miami International Airport’s $9-billion Modernization in Action capital improvement program, which will upgrade facilities and expand capacity over the coming decade. As part of this transformation, HMSHost will refresh and redesign its dining portfolio to support an improved passenger experience at one of the world’s busiest international travel hubs.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava highlighted the long-standing partnership between the airport and HMSHost, noting that the agreement reflects a shared focus on service quality, innovation and customer experience. The modernization program is expected to support growing passenger volumes, with the airport projected to handle more than 77 million travelers annually by 2040.
Through the renewed contract, HMSHost will introduce a mix of local restaurant concepts, internationally recognized brands and proprietary dining formats developed by the company. The upgraded venues will incorporate digital technologies intended to streamline ordering and service while improving convenience for travelers.
Steve Johnson, President and CEO for North America at Avolta, said the extension reinforces HMSHost’s position as a major provider of airport dining services and enables the company to introduce new culinary concepts reflecting Miami’s diverse food culture. He emphasized the importance of the company’s longstanding collaboration with Miami-Dade County and the Miami-Dade Aviation Department as the airport continues its modernization efforts.
HMSHost will continue to operate its dining locations in partnership with local concessionaires Master ConcessionAir, LLC, led by Jose Alberni, and Tinsley Family Concessions, Inc., led by George Tinsley, supporting small-business participation in the airport’s concession program.
The extended agreement secures HMSHost’s long-term presence at Miami International Airport and positions the company to play a key role in delivering updated food and beverage experiences as the airport undergoes significant expansion and modernization.
