2013-06-28 — /travelprnews.com/ — One of the North East’s most stunning locations is to bring a children’s classic to life next month.
Babe the Sheep Pig, Dick King-Smith’s heart-warming tale of an orphan piglet which was also made into a major Hollywood film, is to take centre stage at Duff House when touring company Illyria’s outdoor production of the smash hit classic hits Banff.
The production, part of a UK wide tour is at Duff House on Thursday 18th July for one night only. One of only a handful of Scottish dates, the evening will allow the audience to enjoy a children’s classic against the backdrop of one of Scotland’s most magnificent country homes.
The production is part of the House’s annual series of outdoor performances and follows on from Illyria’s 2012 record breaking production of Roald Dahl’s The Twits.
Gillian Urquhart, Events Manager for Historic Scotland who run Duff House said;
“We are thrilled to be welcoming the Illyria cast and crew back to Duff House this summer.
“Babe is a much loved children’s story however its themes of friendship, courage and determination have appeal to a wide audience.
“This is one of only a handful of opportunities to catch the show in Scotland and the only opportunity to see it in the grounds of one of the North East’s most beautiful houses.
“Past productions have been nothing short of spectacular and it’s a really special feeling to see an outdoor production within the grounds of this majestic house, the combination of which makes for a really special show.”
Doors open for the event at 5.45pm with the production starting at 6.30pm. Tickets for the event are available now from Duff House or directly from the Illyria website www.illyria.uk.com
