Hilton Athens Appoints Dimitris Melemenis as the hotel’s new executive chef

ATHENS, Greece, 2013-06-21 — /travelprnews.com/ — Hilton Athens is pleased to introduce Dimitris Melemenis as the hotel’s new executive chef. After a long career within the company, working at various Hilton hotels across Europe, Dimitris Melemenis succeeds Yiannis Manikis, who continues his career at Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center which is expected to open towards the end of 2013.

The talented Dimitris Melemenis studied culinary arts at The School of Tourism Professions (CTE Rhodes & Anavyssos) and continued with postgraduate studies at the Ecole d’ Hotellerie et de Tourisme ‘Alexandre Dumas’ in Strasbourg. Dimitris joined Hilton Worldwide in 2001 and has worked at Hilton Copenhagen Airport in Denmark, then at The Trafalgar Hilton in London and at Hilton Sofia in Bulgaria. The love for travelling and the desire to broaden his horizons led Dimitris to the cruise industry at Celebrity Cruises, where he worked as an executive chef. He returned to Greece to join the Costa Navarino hotel team, working initially as complex executive sous chef and then as complex executive chef for two years.

As executive chef of Hilton Athens, Dimitris Melemenis brings his own touch to the menus of Byzantino restaurant, Galaxy Restaurant and Oasis Pool Bar & Grill. Emphasizing on good quality ingredients and excellent techniques, Dimitris Melemenis prefers seasonal produce, focusing on simplicity and creative Greek and Mediterranean cuisine with international influences. His goal is to maintain the high positioning of Hilton Athens on the city’s culinary map, while making his own mark for a truly memorable dining experience.
