Hershey Gardens list of events and activities for July 2013

Hershey, Pa., 2013-06-27 — /travelprnews.com/ — This July, visitors at Hershey Gardens will find more than 12,000 colorful annuals in bloom and events for the entire family to experience. Set among the 5,000 blooming rose bushes and seasonal displays, the Gardens hosts a variety of events in July:

Marvelous Mondays (Monday, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; August 5, 12) 
Hershey Gardens’ education team invites families to participate in the Marvelous Mondays program each Monday in July and select dates in August, from 10 a.m. to noon. Free with general admission to the Gardens, each session features a nature theme, crafts and entertainment.

A Star-Spangled Picnic (Thursday, July 4) 
Visitors can celebrate Independence Day among thousands of flowers and enjoy an all-American cookout in the Gardens. From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., guests receive private access to the Gardens, a catered picnic and family entertainment. An exclusive fireworks viewing area will be reserved outside the Gardens for attendees of this event. Advanced registration is required and tickets cost $27 for adults and $15 for juniors. In case of inclement weather, the picnic will move to the rain date designated for the fireworks. Tickets are available at www.HersheyGardens.org or by calling 717-534-3900.

Butterfly Festival (Saturday, July 13) 
Held from 9:30 a.m. to noon, kids can participate in butterfly-related crafts and games during the annual Butterfly Festival. Families can enjoy performances of puppet shows by the Puppet Patch Players and storytelling with a Monarch butterfly. Butterfly Festival activities are included with general admission to the Gardens.

This summer, visitors can also enjoy the seasonal Butterfly House, which is home to more than 400 North American butterflies. Located within The Children’s Garden, approximately 25 species are featured within the house. The Butterfly House is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through September 15 and is included with general admission to Hershey Gardens.
