(PRESS RELEASE) VANTAA, Finland, 2026-Mar-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Finavia’s Helsinki Airport has once again secured top recognition at the Skytrax World Airport Awards, being named the Best Airport in Northern Europe for the tenth time. The achievement reinforces the airport’s long-standing reputation for delivering a seamless travel experience, supported by efficient operations and consistently high service standards.
Laura Inttilä, Senior Vice President for Helsinki Airport at Finavia, highlighted that the recognition reflects sustained efforts across the entire airport ecosystem. She emphasized that the award is a result of continuous collaboration aimed at ensuring passengers enjoy a smooth, comfortable, and reliable journey from arrival to departure.
The accolade is based on the global World Airport Survey, one of the aviation industry’s most comprehensive passenger satisfaction studies, in which millions of travelers evaluate airports worldwide. The 2026 results were unveiled during a ceremony held in London on 18 March 2026.
Helsinki Airport’s strong performance is closely tied to its long-term development strategy, which places passenger experience at the center of all improvements. Over the years, the airport has undergone extensive enhancements, including the modernization of terminal facilities, expansion of retail and dining offerings, and the integration of digital tools to improve efficiency. Innovations such as real-time security waiting time forecasts have contributed to smoother passenger flow, while new lounges and upgraded amenities have elevated comfort levels.
In March 2026, a newly completed commercial area near Gate 30 in the Schengen zone further expanded the airport’s offerings. The space combines Nordic design with elements inspired by Finnish nature and features four retail outlets alongside a café-restaurant serving a mix of local flavors and convenient takeaway options, catering to a wide range of traveler preferences.
In addition to its Skytrax recognition, Helsinki Airport has also recently been named the best airport in Europe in the 15–25 million passenger category for the seventh time by Airports Council International, further underscoring its strong standing within the European aviation landscape.
