Peter Rabbit
2013-03-26 — /travelprnews.com/ — Heathrow is preparing for its busiest seven days of the year so far, with 1.2 million passengers expected to hop through Heathrow over the Easter break between Thursday 28 March and Tuesday 2 April.
As Brits get ready to make the most of the long weekend, the UK’s hub airport forecasts that Thursday 28 March will be its busiest departure day with over 116,000 people heading abroad for last minute skiing or guaranteed sunshine over the Easter weekend.
3.6 million passengers will pass through Heathrow during the two week school break (28 March to 14 April). According to forecast figures, Sunday 14 April – the last day of the holidays before the start of the new term – will see the most arrivals into Heathrow with 123,000 passengers scheduled to fly into London.
During Easter, Heathrow will welcome approximately 40% more families with small children. The airport has prepared a special welcome for them in partnership with Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit™ who will be on hand to meet families and present storytelling and arts and craft sessions over the holiday period. In addition, Peter Rabbit™ Passport activity booklets will be distributed free across all terminals as well as chocolate treats and arts and craft sessions. Heathrow’s restaurants are also ready for the holiday season with Kids Eat Free offers, high chairs and fun packs.
More staff, including 150 passenger ambassadors, will be in the terminals directing parents to dedicated family lanes in security and free play areas in the departure lounges. Parents will also be able to relax and enjoy their journey with a concert by The London Philharmonic Orchestra which will be performing for passengers in Terminal 5’s check-in area. For those parents who want to indulge, fine chocolatier and artisan baker, Cocomaya, has opened a pop up shop in Terminal 5 so passengers can enjoy some hand crafted chocolates this Easter.
Susan Goldsmith, Operations Director at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 said: ‘Easter is a special time for families at Heathrow – our team have been busy preparing and we are ready to welcome passengers making the most of the holiday. We are committed to delivering a great journey for all our customers and I am delighted to welcome Peter Rabbit™ to Heathrow to help create a special moment for our littlest travellers.’
