George Best Belfast City Airport: Aer Lingus Schools’ Art Competition 2014 winners announced

BELFAST, 2014-04-11 — /Travel PR News/ — The results of the Aer Lingus Art for School’s Competition 2014 are finally in! The winning school is Mossley Primary School and the winning design was submitted by primary six pupil, Lewis Jackson.

Now in its seventh year, the Aer Lingus Schools’ Art Competition was run in association with George Best Belfast City Airport and Ni4kids.
The response was incredible with talented primary four, five and six children from schools across Northern Ireland submitting their designs from last October.

This year’s competition is a celebration
of Aer Lingus’ one-year anniversary at their George Best Belfast City Airport base. Schools were asked to submit an entry representing all that they think is great about Northern Ireland.

Lewis’ design was chosen by the judging panel including Andrea Hunter, business development manager of Aer Lingus, Nadia Duncan managing editor of ni4kids and Ruth Kimbley, communications executive at George Best Belfast City Airport, as their favourite. Choosing the eventual winner was not an easy job but the judges decided unanimously that Lewis’ design was exceptional.

Courtesy of Aer Lingus, Lewis and his class will fly from Belfast City Airport to London for a day trip with their teachers. They will enjoy a flight on the world’s tallest observation wheel, the London Eye, allowing them to enjoy spectacular views across the city. They will also have the chance to visit the Sea Life London Aquarium and then they will be given the rest of the day to explore the delights London has to offer.

Andrea Hunter, Aer Lingus was very impressed with the winning entry. She said: “We were thrilled to receive entries from over 100 schools across Northern Ireland and the standard this year was outstanding. To date we have never had so many terrific designs to choose from and it is a pleasure to support the emerging design talents of the future.

“It wasn’t an easy decision to make given the very high standard but Lewis’s design was extremely creative. It will also translate well into a decal that will be placed on one of our aircraft that flies between Belfast City Airport and London.

“Congratulations to Lewis and Mossley Primary school, our lucky winners!”
