Gatwick, UK, 2018-Nov-26 — /Travel PR News/ — Asian-inspired, healthy restaurant itsu has opened a new outlet in Gatwick Airport, offering fast food options to health-conscious customers.

The decision from itsu to open the new 310 sqm store in the airport’s South Terminal follows growing consumer demand in the UK for healthy and varied grab-and-go meal options.

In a crowded marketplace, meals at itsu stand out by being beautifully presented and delicious, as well as nutritious, low-calorie and affordable. The restaurant’s food is free from monosodium glutamate (MSG) and prepared fresh in-store every day, with no central factory.

itsu’s team of talented chefs have created an evolving seasonal menu, which includes the restaurant’s monthly Gatwick Bento Box, hand-crafted sushi, low-carb salads, Tokyo wraps and a hot menu of grab-and-go noodles, soups, rice bowls and gyoza dumplings.

Helen Teschauer, Food and Beverage Business Development Manager, Gatwick Airport said:

“This is a key restaurant opening for Gatwick and it’s exciting to be bringing such a popular UK brand to our South Terminal. Feedback suggests that our 46 million annual passengers appreciate fresh, healthy food options being available at the airport while they await their flight, and itsu meets this demand perfectly.

“It’s a unique restaurant which has gone from strength to strength in recent years and is now a firm staple of the high street, so we’re really delighted to welcome itsu into its brand new home at Gatwick Airport.”

About Gatwick Airport

Gatwick’s 2018 draft master plan sets out proposals for the airport’s ongoing development and sustainable growth. It also outlines the airport’s latest thinking on how it can meet the increasing demand for air travel and provide Britain with enhanced global connectivity. A public consultation will run on the draft master plan until 10 January 2019 and will help inform the publication of the final master plan next year.

Gatwick Airport is the UK’s second largest airport. It serves more than 228 destinations in 74 countries for 46 million passengers a year on short and long-haul point-to-point services. It is also a major economic driver and generates around 85,000 jobs nationally, with 24,000 of these located on the airport. The airport is south of Central London with excellent public transport links, including the Gatwick Express, and is part of the Oyster contactless payment network. Gatwick Airport is owned by a group of international investment funds, of which Global Infrastructure Partners is the largest shareholder.
