From the Island of the Gods: Enjoy Traditional Balinese Delicacies at San-Qi in Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai

Guest Chef Arcana Gede brings his secrets to San-Qi this October

2012-10-10 — /travelprnews.com/ — The rich history of Bali has transformed its many Asian influences into a wholesome, delectable cuisine. Now, from the tropical paradise of Ubud in Bali, Chef Arcana Gede brings authentic Indonesian flavours to Mumbai. Gado-gado, mie goreng and bubur injin all feature in his special menu at San-Qi, giving guests the essence of this rich food culture at Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai.

From the fortnight beginning October 12, 2012, there are three great options to celebrate Balinese culinary at San-Qi: one can imbibe some of Chef Arcana’s skills during the specialized cooking classes, or experience a meal carefully prepared by him, or better yet, head to the Sunday Brunch with a dedicated counter with the abundance of all that this cuisine has to offer in one lazy afternoon.

Chef Arcana believes that he inherited his passion for cooking from his parents. After attending Bali Tourism College at Nusa Dua, Arcana gained experience at a number of the island’s hotels, before joining Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan in 1998. Since then, his talent in the kitchen combined with his friendly disposition and commitment to his job gained him several achievements including a successful lunch at the resort for all of the First Ladies during the ASEAN Summit in November 2011.

Guests at the Resort are Arcana’s greatest inspiration. “I really enjoy interacting with guests as it allows me to customize their food according to their preferences,” he says. In fact, it is Arcana who often encourages guests who are cooking enthusiasts to participate in the Balinese cooking classes at the Resort, which includes a visit to Ubud’s traditional markets and a hands-on experience of a vibrant working kitchen. His personal mission is to present guests with an unforgettable culinary experience, something that will truly entice them to return for more.

  • The cooking classes are scheduled on October 13 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, and 3:00 to 6:00 pm; two sessions of ten students each. Call 2481 8333 to confirm participation.
  • Special à la carte menu available for lunch and dinner from October 14-20, 2012.
  • Balinese specials at Essence Brunch on October 21 from 12:30 to 4:00 pm; INR 3,200.00 per person plus taxes, inclusive of unlimited alcohol or INR 2,400.00 plus taxes for non-alcoholic brunch.
