Frankfurt Airport Offers About 400 Rail Connections Daily

Frankfurt, Germany, 2014-2-21 — /travelprnews.com/ — Excellently networked: Besides being one of the world’s largest aviation hubs, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is renowned for being well-connected by rail – with numerous regional and national destinations in Germany, plus international destinations in neighboring countries. At FRA, it couldn’t be easier or more convenient to transfer from a flight to a train, or vice versa. It’s just a few steps away from the passenger terminals to FRA’s Long-distance Train Station, where more than 170 high-speed ICE (InterCityExpress) trains stop each day. In addition, more than 200 local and regional trains serve the Regional Train Station located directly below Terminal 1 whisking passengers to and from the city of Frankfurt as well as to other places throughout the Rhine-Main region.

Air passengers who arrive by ICE or IC (InterCity) trains at Frankfurt Airport’s Long-distance Train Station can check in their bags and get boarding passes even before reaching the air terminals. Just a few meters away from the rail hall, they can use the special AIRail check-in area in the connector building that conveniently links Terminal 1 with the Long-distance Train Station. Here, passengers can check in for flights offered by over 30 airlines. Fraport, the airport company, provides check-in services for various airlines from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m, while Lufthansa also operates counters from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily for its flights and other carriers. Fraport’s new rail services brochure contains information on the participating airlines, check-in times, and traveling by train. Copies can be picked up at information stands around the terminals, or the brochure can be read and downloaded here.

The expansion of AIRail services is part of the “Great to Have You Here!” quality service program that Fraport launched at Frankfurt Airport several years ago – to introduce a wide range of enhancements for making departing, arriving and transferring even more pleasant for passengers at Germany’s largest aviation hub. In 2013, Frankfurt Airport welcomed more than 58 million air passengers.
