Lights, camera, Lanai! Cinematic arts shine on the private island.

2013-01-25 — /travelprnews.com/ — Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele, in partnership with the Lanai community, HawaiiONTV.com and Jazz Alley TV, announces the Lanai Film Festival, February 8-10, 2013. Film enthusiasts are invited to enjoy three days of complimentary cinematic arts, music and enriching cultural programs.

“Four Seasons is honoured to host the Lanai Film Festival with such revered filmmakers and artists presenting their works to the Lanai community and Resort guests,” says Tom Roelens, general manager of Four Seasons Resorts Lanai. “We understand the importance of the arts and are privileged to be able to assist with bringing the festival back to the island for all to enjoy.”

The weekend begins with the premiere of the Emmy Award and Sundance Award winning Maui filmmaker Kenneth K. Martinez Burgmaier’s latest film Malama Ko Aloha, and features acclaimed musicians Kevin Brown, Sonny Lim, Keola Beamer, Palani Vaughn, Cyril Pahinui, Brother Noland, Calvin Hoe, Keola and Moanalani Beamer, as well as Aunty Nona Beamer. The weekend continues with a dynamic line-up of independent Polynesian film screenings at The Lodge at Koele on Saturday, February 9, 2013 in the Great Hall and Library.

The complete schedule of events include:

• The Lodge at Koele – Friday, February 8, 2013; 6:00-9:00 pm -The red carpet rolls out for the Lanai Film Festival premiere.
• Coffee Works – Saturday, February 9, 2013; 9:00-11:00 am -The morning starts with a “cup of joe” and live Slack Key music with Kevin Brown and Grammy winner Sonny Lim.
• Café 565 – Saturday, February 9, 2013; 11:30 am – 2:00 pm -Lunch and live music with Robbie Ray Lopaka.
• The Lodge at Koele – Saturday, February 9, 2013; 1:00-2:30 pm – Complimentary Hawaiian Nose Flute workshop with Calvin Hoe.
• The Lodge at Koele – Saturday, February 9, 2013; 5:00-9:00 pm – Polynesian film night, with award winning films premiering to the public including: Malama Ko Aloha, The Land Has Eyes, Rolling Down Like Pele, Chief, Local Kin, That First Glide, and many more. Screenings will be held in the Great Hall, Music Room and the Library. During the event, guests enjoy live music from Sonny Lim, Paula Fuga and Kevin Brown.
• No Ka Oi Grinds – Sunday, February 10, 2013; 9:30 am – 12:00 pm – Breakfast accompanied by the melodic sounds of musician Robby Ray Lopaka.
• The Lodge at Koele – Sunday, February 10, 2013; 9:30 am – 12:00 pm – Breakfast at the Terrace, accompanied by a musical performance by Slack Key guitar master Kevin Brown.
• The Lodge at Koele – Sunday, February 10, 2013; 7:00-9:00 pm – Dinner at the Terrace with melodic tunes in the Great Hall as Grammy winner Sonny Lim performs.
