Four Seasons Resort Hualalai shares tips on how to re-create its lavish Mother’s Day experience at home

Resort craftspeople provide brunch recipes, at-home entertaining tips, and a decadent spa treatment to create a five-star Mother’s Day, with a touch of aloha

Hawaii, Hualalai, U.S.A., 2020-Apr-28 — /Travel PR News/ — Four Seasons Resort Hualalai encourages guests to re-create the Resort’s lavish Mother’s Day experience at home – from hosting a decadent brunch (with virtual guests) to indulging Mom with an at-home spa treatment. Master craftspeople throughout the Resort weigh in on how to create signature Hualalai experiences at home, designed to incite moments of aloha for guests throughout the world.

Director of Sales Jenna Gillis provides tips on how to bring the luxury of the Hualalai dining experience into the homes of guests.

  • Ambiance: Change up your dining location by utilising a patio table or formal dining room for Mother’s Day brunch. Encourage family members to put on their favourite Resort wear or brunch attire. Stream Hualalai’s Spotify playlist to provide music while you dine.
  • Table setting: Use menu cards and/or place setting cards to create a special tablescape. Centrepieces can be created from greenery and flowers, fruits and vegetables, or even childrens’ handmade ceramics or art pieces.
  • Service: Pamper Mom by offering to pour her coffee or juice, serve her entrée, and clear her plate.
  • Virtual guests: Include family members who cannot be there physically by setting up a Zoom call and using a favourite Hualalai photo as the background.

Executive Chef Thomas Bellec shares his recipe for gluten-free Double Chocolate Tahini Muffins, the perfect treat to pair with Mom’s morning Kona coffee.

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 6 T cocoa powder
  • 3 eggs
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup flaxseed meal
  • 1/8 t sea salt
  • 1 t vanilla extract

Mix bananas, eggs, maple syrup, and vanilla together in a bowl.  In a separate bowl, combine cocoa powder, almond flour, baking soda, flaxseed meal, and salt.  Slowly incorporate dry ingredients into wet ingredients until smooth. Mix in chocolate chips and tahini. Distribute batter into muffin tins and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Yields 10-12 muffins.

Assistant Director of Food and Beverage Brigeth Brookins’ favourite brunch treat at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is the Matcha Morning Smoothie, packed with antioxidants and flavours of Hawaii.

  • 3 oz. almond milk
  • 1 t matcha tea
  • ½ banana
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 T cacao nibs
  • 1 oz. coconut cream

Blend ingredients together with ice and garnish with a flower and cacao nibs.

Spa Director Cecilia Hercik suggests using specialty oils and spices to create a decadent spa treatment, the Macadamia and Kukui Detox Bath, an ode to Hualalai Spa’s apothecary. The ingredients in this treatment were selected for their detoxification properties and can be found in specialty grocery stores or online.

  • 1 spoonful macadamia oil
  • 1 spoonful kukui nut oil, warmed
  • ½ cup spirulina powder
  • 1 spoonful ginger root powder
  • 1 spoonful turmeric
  • Pineapple slices & lime wedge
  • Bath: Place spirulina, macadamia oil, ginger root powder, and turmeric in a bowl and mix to create a paste. Add this paste to tub filled with warm water. Soak for 20-40 minutes.
  • Hair treatment: Apply warm kukui oil to your hair and massage through to the ends. Leave on while soaking.
  • Internal detox: Slice pineapple with the core still intact, chill, and sprinkled with a little salt and fresh ground black pepper. Fill a glass of sparkling water, add a slice of pineapple and a wedge of lime for enjoying during the soak.
  • Moisturise: After the bath, massage warm kukui oil on your skin to leave it nourished and glowing.
