Auspicious Traditional Lion Dances to Start a New Year
Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley will officially welcome the arrival of the Year of the Rabbit with the awakening of the lion performances. Hotel guests will gather to watch the colourful Chinese New Year festivities and to celebrate auspicious new beginnings. On Friday, January 27, 2023 at 5:00 pm, Adora Manalo, General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley at East Palo Alto; Lisa Yarborough-Gauthier, Mayor of East Palo Alto; Jeff Liu, Acting Chief of Police at East Palo Alto; and Michelle Goudeaux, Director of Property Management-University Circle will officiate the lion eye-dotting ceremony to celebrate the start of a prosperous new year ahead. More than a dozen energetic lion dance performers trained to the renowned Yau Kung Moon discipline will dance to the beat of gongs and drums, while weaving their way through the Hotel’s courtyard and march down the palm-treed front drive, dancing around the fountain, and marching towards the Hotel’s entrance. With strength, gracefulness, and speed, the lions shall perform stunts to collect lettuce, a symbol of wealth and good luck, sharing blessings of good fortune and luck with guests.
