Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur to host official Terry Fox Fun Run in support of cancer research

Scheduled for May 7, 2023 the community event welcomes participants to run, jog or walk in support of cancer research

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2023-Apr-13 — /Travel PR News/ — Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur is set to host the official Terry Fox Fun Run in Kuala Lumpur this year. The Hotel invites runners, joggers and walkers of all ages to join the event at 7:00 am on Sunday, May 7, 2023 in support of Cancer Research Malaysia.

Everyone is welcome to take part and can complete the 5-kilometre route at their own pace. Participants and onlookers alike can buy a Terry Fox Run t-shirt via the Hotel website: 100 percent of the funds raised will go to Cancer Research Malaysia.

The history of the Terry Fox Run goes back to 1980, when 22-year-old Terry Fox, who lost his leg to bone cancer, ran 5,374 kilometres across Canada to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Through rain, snow and heat, he continued his Marathon of Hope until he was forced to stop because cancer appeared in his lungs. He passed away the following year, but not before raising CAD 24 million for the cause.

Inspired by Terry’s courage and vision of a cancer-free world, Four Seasons founder Isadore Sharp made a commitment to upholding Terry’s legacy. He worked closely with several sponsors to organize the first-ever Terry Fox Run in 1981, drawing more than 300,000 participants. Today, more than 9,000 Terry Fox Memorial Runs take place around the world annually, supported by Four Seasons in several locations.

“Our Hotel team is thrilled to host this event for the first time and to honour Terry’s inspiring legacy,” says General Manager Blaise Montandon. “It is a privilege for us to support our local community by raising funds for Cancer Research Malaysia.”

The Terry Fox Run will begin at Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Several employees from the Hotel will also be participating in the event.
