Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur Gears Up for Third Annual Terry Fox Fun Run in Support of Cancer Research

Open to runners and walkers of all ages, the five-kilometre charity event is held in support of Cancer Research Malaysia, honouring the enduring legacy of Canadian hero Terry Fox and his dream of a world without cancer.

The route will follow DBKL’s Sunday morning car-free stretch, starting and concluding at the hotel itself. In 2024, the run raised over MYR 43,331.30, with this year’s goal set even higher. Supporters who may not be able to participate on the day are still encouraged to show their solidarity by purchasing a Terry Fox Run t-shirt via the hotel website — with 100% of proceeds going directly to Cancer Research Malaysia.

The event not only commemorates Terry Fox’s incredible 1980 “Marathon of Hope” — during which the 22-year-old amputee ran more than 5,000 kilometres across Canada before cancer returned to his lungs — but also builds on the global movement that followed. Inspired by Fox’s resilience, Four Seasons founder Isadore Sharp helped launch the first official Terry Fox Run in 1981. That inaugural event attracted more than 300,000 participants, sparking an international tradition that now sees over 12,000 Terry Fox Runs held worldwide each year — many of them supported by Four Seasons locations around the globe.

For 2025, the Kuala Lumpur event aims to further increase awareness, donations, and participation, reinforcing a collective commitment to progress in cancer research. Team members from Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur will also take part, joining community members on the scenic, traffic-free course.
