ZURICH, 2017-Feb-08 — /Travel PR News/ — At this year’s general meeting of shareholders on April 20, 2017, two new representatives of the board of directors will be appointed. The board of directors nominates Josef Felder and Stephan Gemkow as new board members to the general meeting of shareholders.
Two current members of the board of directors step down for different reasons. Kaspar Schiller, who has been member of the board since 2004, turns 70 years old in 2017 and therefore reaches the defined age limit. Ulrik Svensson, member of the board of directors of Flughafen Zürich AG since 2008, is the new chief financial officer of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, which lead to his resignation at the end of 2016. The board of directors is giving sincere thanks to both members for their long-standing, dedicated commitment to Zurich Airport.
The board of directors will nominate the following two persons as new members of the board of directors to the general meeting of shareholders on April 20, 2017:
Stephan Gemkow, born on January 23, 1960
Gemkow studied business administration at the University of Paderborn and at the St. Olaf College in Minnesota, USA. From 1988 to 1990 he worked as a management consultant at BDO Deutsche Warentreuhand AG in Hamburg. From 1990 onwards, he held various management positions at Deutsche Lufthansa AG in Frankfurt a.M. Between 2006 and 2012, Stephan Gemkow was member of the management of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, responsible for finances. Since 2012 he has been chairman of the board at Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH in Duisburg. Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH is one of the largest family-owned investment holdings, which operates a diversified portfolio.
Josef Felder, born on April 25, 1961
Before he joined the aviation industry, Felder was head of the accounting department at March Rich & Co. AG in Zug. From 1989 to 1998 he held various positions at Crossair AG in Basel, lastly as deputy director and division manager. Between 1998 and 2000, he was CEO of Flughafen-Immobilien-Gesellschaft, FIG and designated general manager of the new company Flughafen Zürich AG, whose association and initial public offering he accompanied on the front lines. From 2000 to 2008 he was CEO of Flughafen Zürich AG and successfully guided the company together with his management team through the crisis after the grounding of Swissair. Since 2009, Josef Felder is holding several board member mandates in various companies.
