Flu shot available at O’Hare International Airport

CHICAGO,  2015-11-2 — /Travel PR News/ — The winter holiday travel season is soon to arrive, and that means flu season is around the corner. Have you gotten your flu shot yet? How about getting one the next time you travel through O’Hare International Airport?

Ginger S. Evans, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), is encouraging travelers and employees at O’Hare to get inoculated with the flu vaccine by staff from the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) Clinic at the airport. O’Hare offers a convenient location to get a flu shot in each domestic terminal. The Commissioner is not just talking the talk – last week, she rolled up her sleeve and got a shot from clinic staff.

“As the seasons change and the holiday travel season approaches, it’s important to be prepared to fight off colds and flu when visiting friends and family,” said Commissioner Evans. “We are encouraging passengers and airport employees to take advantage of the flu shots and other services that are offered at the UIC Clinic to be prepared and, most importantly, be healthy in the coming weeks and months. I got my shot, have you gotten yours?”

Flu shots cost $30.00 for travelers and $24.00 for airport employees.  Most insurance and Medicare accepted.

The three locations to get flu shots past security at O’Hare are: a kiosk in Terminal 1, Concourse B near Gate B6; the UIC clinic in Terminal 2 across from the “Kids on the Fly” play area; and a kiosk in Terminal 3 near the “Hall of Flags” at the H/K concourse split.

The UIC Clinic at O’Hare is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

In addition, the clinic also offers the following services:

* Diagnostic X-ray services

* Diabetes and cholesterol screening

* EKG testing

* Immunizations (Flu, Pneumonia and Hepatitis A and B)

* Employee physical examinations

* Drug and breath alcohol screening

* Audiometry and tympanometry

* Teeth Whitening

* IV Hydration
