2013-03-04 — /travelprnews.com/ — On 23 March, New World Hotels will support Earth Hour by switching off exterior lights, all non-essential lighting in public areas and offices from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., while café guests will enjoy a candlelit dinner as part of a growing global effort toward a more sustainable planet.  This initiative follows the recent launch of the hotels’ paperless check-in service and is part of the group’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainability.

Guests are also encouraged to support Earth Hour by turning off any unnecessary lighting in their rooms and will be invited to attend specially-themed functions at some New World Hotels. For example, at New World Dalian Hotel, a thematic “green” menu will be available on 23 March featuring locally sourced vegetables as a means of minimising the hotel’s carbon footprint. Guests at New World Wuhan Hotel will be invited to a one-hour cocktail reception at the lobby to reduce the use of guestroom lights.

As part of its ongoing commitment to conservation, New World Hotels actively implements energy saving measures.  Over the last two years, the group achieved a total energy reduction of nearly six million kilowatt hours, representing a decrease of 11 percent.  The group’s goal is to further reduce the total consumption by another three percent in 2013.

Favoured by business travellers and meeting planners, New World Hotels are deluxe properties located in Dalian, Shanghai, Wuhan, Ho Chi Minh City and Manila, and opening in Beijing and Guiyang in 2013, with an affiliated hotel in Shunde.  The hotels offer a full range of relevant amenities and services, including multiple restaurants, business services, extensive meeting facilities, executive floors and recreational options.  New World Hotels, one of Hong Kong-based New World Hospitality’s growing portfolio of brands, is targeted to more than double in size by 2017.  For further information or reservations, please contact your travel professional or visit www.newworldhotels.com.
