2013-02-11 — /travelprnews.com/ — Throughout the years, Bath has always attracted the most fashion conscious amongst society, but from Tuesday 12th February, visitors can see why this city continues to play its part in today’s fashion by snapping up tickets for this year’s Bath in Fashion event (13-21 April 2013).

Bath in Fashion is one of the most talked-about fashion gatherings outside of London and 2013 will be no exception. To celebrate the city’s fashionable legacy as a place to be seen, Bath in Fashion 2013 will take a look behind the seams at how fashion is presented.

The week-long festival will showcase a collection of fashion celebrities who make fashion happen – the people who put the model in the dress and the dress on the page. Discover how an artist can freeze a fashion icon forever in time or how a photograph can capture a fashion moment.

This year’s exciting line-up includes: a centenary Norman Parkinson exhibition curated by designer Roland Mouret with a special talk by M. Mouret; Artist and designer Julie Verhoeven will be putting her distinctive stamp on the festival with a special installation at the Holburne Museum, ‘Ladies Let’s Rip!’ Inspired by portraits of the Georgian beauties painted by Gainsborough, Julie will take part in an informal talk with Bath resident Iain R Webb.

A real coup for Bath is the genius behind Michael Jackson’s fabulous stage costumes, LA designer Michael Bush, who will give be giving a talk at The Guildhall and offering a unique insight into The King of Pop’s wardrobe. The Holburne Museum will host a talk by Sir Roy Strong, ‘The Jacobean Catwalk’ in conjunction with their Painted Pomp exhibition and Iain R Webb will launch his new book about the fabulous Eighties fashions as seen in Blitz Magazine.

Customary for a fashion event, Bath in Fashion’s catwalk shows will be produced by London Fashion Week’s John Walford and styled by Rebekah Roy and the Fashion Your Future at Komedia is where Bath Spa University’s fashion leader, Louise Pickles will introduce a panel of experts to comment on the many avenues open to students keen to work in the fashion industry.

Even just around Bath there will be in-store events, pop up shops and in-store promotions.  But to round off the excitement, a Vintage Weekend offers the Bath VA Vintage Fair a parade of vintage cars where glamorous vintage expert Pearl Lowe will talk about her new book on vintage craft.
