(PRESS RELEASE) Miami, FL, 2024-Oct-4 — /Travel PR News/ — Royal Caribbean International has marked a significant milestone in the construction of its much-anticipated Star of the Seas, as the ship floated for the first time, buoyed by over 92 million gallons of water. The event was celebrated at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, where Harri Kulovaara, Executive Vice President of Maritime and Newbuilding at Royal Caribbean Group, and Tim Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku, joined their dedicated teams to witness this pivotal moment. Following the successful float-out, Star of the Seas will proceed to the outfitting pier, entering the final stages of its construction ahead of its grand unveiling in August 2025.

The milestone was commemorated with a traditional maritime ceremony, featuring a cannon salute to honor the collaborative efforts of thousands who have contributed to the ship’s 19 months of development. The dry dock was filled in an overnight process that took approximately nine hours, allowing the ship to glide into its new home at the outfitting pier, where final touches will be made to its design and functionality.

Star of the Seas is poised to enhance Royal Caribbean’s reputation for delivering unforgettable vacations, doubling the variety of experiences available to guests. Building on the successes introduced by Icon of the Seas, the new ship will feature eight distinct neighborhoods, catering to a wide range of travelers. Families can expect exhilarating attractions, including six of the tallest waterslides in the world, over 40 dining and drinking options, and the family-friendly Surfside neighborhood designed specifically for younger guests. Furthermore, guests will enjoy a week-long island-hopping adventure, visiting stunning destinations, including Royal Caribbean’s private oasis, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
