EUROCONTROL launches new release of ARTAS air traffic management surveillance tracker and server

Brussels, Belgium, 2020-Jan-05 — /Travel PR News/ — EUROCONTROL has just launched a new release of ARTAS, our air traffic management surveillance tracker and server. After two years of development and successful trials, ARTAS version 9.0.0 brings many new community-sourced features, and addresses over 60 issues reported by users.

First developed over 25 years ago by EUROCONTROL with the aim of tackling a fragmented European surveillance system, ARTAS is a distributed and interoperable surveillance tracker and server solution that ensures an optimal use of available sensor data. Thanks to our dedicated user-centric approach, a committed ARTAS user community has over the years emerged which helps us direct our efforts and developments.

Today, we are launching a major version upgrade which addresses much of our community’s feedback. We have improved tracking in the vicinity of airports by integrating the System Manager System (SMS) prototype – a key milestone for ARTAS on the road to becoming a true Gate2Gate system. Additional improvements have also been made to the management of ADS-B, as well as the system’s overall cyber security.

The 9.0.0 version also brings ASTERIX CAT048 extended range, automatic migration of the StaticGeo & Parameter datasets at DM load and extend Split Plot Filter (SPF) to Mode-S data. Lastly, thanks to regular reports from our community on bugs and other issues, we have resolved 67 problems, making ARTAS more reliable, efficient and easy to use.
