Emirates Marks Ramadan with Tailored Onboard Dining Lounge Traditions and Passenger Support Initiatives

Emirates Lounges have curated special menu’s to celebrate Ramadan

(IN SHORT) Emirates is celebrating Ramadan with enhanced services across its operations, including complimentary iftar boxes at boarding gates and onboard, traditional meals in lounges, dedicated entertainment content and the availability of prayer mats for passengers. Seasonal initiatives also include a new Bukhoor fragrance collection and special support for Umrah travellers. Backed by staff training focused on cultural awareness, the programme underscores Emirates’ commitment to delivering thoughtful, culturally aligned travel experiences during the Holy Month.

(PRESS RELEASE) Dubai, UAE, 2026-Feb-16 — /Travel PR News/ — Emirates is marking the Holy Month of Ramadan with a range of onboard and airport initiatives designed to support fasting customers and reflect the spirit of hospitality, generosity and cultural tradition across its global network.

Iftar Services at Boarding Gates and Onboard

During iftar time, complimentary boxes are distributed at selected Emirates boarding gates to help passengers break their fast. Each box includes water, laban, a banana and dates. Onboard, fasting customers across all cabin classes on select routes receive specially prepared Ramadan meal boxes alongside the airline’s regular meal service. These meals feature traditional flavours such as hummus, moutabel or muhammara with Arabic bread, chicken mossakan or herbed chicken sandwiches, and desserts including baklawa and mamoul, all presented in packaging inspired by geometric Islamic design.

To ensure accurate fasting observance while travelling, Emirates uses a dedicated system that calculates imsak and iftar timings based on the aircraft’s location, altitude and the movement of the sun. Passengers are informed of the exact moment to break their fast by the flight’s captain. Prayer mats are also available onboard upon request.

Ramadan Offerings in Lounges and Onboard Entertainment

Across seven Emirates lounges at Dubai International Airport, guests can enjoy a variety of Arabic sweets, dates, coffee and traditional Ramadan dishes, including mezze, lentil soup, mixed grills, lamb kabsa and chicken machboos, followed by desserts such as kunafa, basbousa and kathayef. Lounges in Cairo and Jeddah are also serving seasonal specialties, and all locations provide dedicated prayer rooms and ablution facilities.

On the airline’s ice inflight entertainment system, passengers can access religious programming, Ramadan-themed shows and a wide selection of Arabic-language films, television, music and podcasts, alongside a digital version of the Holy Qur’an.

Fragrance Collection and Support for Umrah Travellers

To extend the Ramadan atmosphere beyond travel, Emirates has introduced a new Bukhoor fragrance collection available through its official store, featuring scents such as Oud Rose, Dreamy Nights and Sacred Ember designed for seasonal gifting.

For customers travelling on Umrah to Jeddah and Medina, Ramadan meal boxes are provided inflight, and passengers may check in one container of Zamzam holy water up to five litres per person at Dubai and selected Saudi airports.

Training to Enhance Cultural Awareness

Emirates has also implemented Ramadan awareness training for cabin crew and ground teams across its network, ensuring staff are equipped to understand the cultural significance of the month and provide attentive, respectful service tailored to passengers observing the fast.
