Emirates increases service between Dubai and Cairo

Dubai, U.A.E., 2019-Mar-21 — /Travel PR News/ — Emirates has announced it will increase the frequency of flights between Dubai and Cairo, adding four additional flights a week to its existing thrice-daily service, starting 28 October, 2019. The four new flights operating on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, will take the total number of weekly Emirates flights serving Cairo to 25.

“Cairo is a very popular destination for both business and leisure travellers, and the additional flights will provide our customers with greater flexibility in their travel choices, and allow seamless connectivity to Emirates’ vast global network. There is a clear demand for our award-winning products and services. We’ve seen a consistent demand for the Emirates experience, with passenger occupancy on the route averaging 90 per cent. These additional flights will not only cater to the growing demand, but also help support tourism and trade in Egypt,” said Orhan Abbas, Emirates’ Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations Africa.

Similar to the current service, the new flights will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER in a three-class configuration featuring 8 private suites, 42 Business Class and 304 Economy Class seats; adding 1,416 seats each way per week on the route. For the calendar year 2018, Emirates SkyCargo transported over 35,750 tonnes of cargo including both exports of close to 19,750 tonnes and imports of 16,000 tonnes. Close to 90% of the commodities exported from Cairo are fruits and vegetables. The flight increase will bring about an additional 160 tonnes of cargo capacity per week to and from Cairo on top of the more than 800 tonnes of cargo capacity already provided on Emirates’ flights.

The additional Dubai – Cairo flight EK 921 will leave Dubai at 12:00 hrs and will arrive in Cairo at 14:15 hrs. The return flight, EK 922, will depart Cairo at 16:15 hrs and will arrive in Dubai at 21:35 hrs. The new flights will enhance connectivity to most cities in the Asia, the Americas and Australia including Beijing, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Sydney, Shanghai, New Delhi, Mumbai, New York and Washington DC.

Premium customers, and Platinum and Gold Skywards members can additionally enjoy the dedicated Emirates lounge in Cairo airport which opened in 2018.

Customers travelling to and from Cairo can access more than 4,000 channels of visual and audio entertainment on the airline’s award winning ice system, featuring the latest movies, music, audio books and games, as well as family friendly products and services for children, including complimentary toys, kids’ meals and movies, priority boarding for families and the use of free strollers at Dubai International Airport (DXB).

Additionally, customers can look forward to the world famous hospitality from Emirates’ multinational cabin crew while enjoying regional and international cuisine, as well as complimentary beverages. They will also enjoy generous Emirates baggage allowance of up to 30kg in Economy Class, 40 kg in Business Class and 50kg in First Class. The additional services also provide more opportunities for members of Skywards, the award-winning frequent flyer programme of Emirates airline, to earn Skywards Miles on their travel.

Emirates started operations to Cairo in April 1986 with three flights a week. Operations have steadily grown with increases in both frequency and capacity between Cairo and Dubai to match customer demand. Today, Emirates operates 21 weekly flights between Cairo and Dubai. Globally, the airline employs more than 2,000 Egyptian nationals in a variety of roles across the Emirates Group, including over 1,000 cabin crew.
