Emirates Expands Madagascar Flights to Six Weekly Services in Support of Tourism Growth

(IN SHORT) Emirates will increase its flights between Dubai and Madagascar, from four to six weekly services starting April 2025, to meet growing demand and support Madagascar’s tourism ambitions. The expanded schedule offers better connectivity for travelers from various parts of the world, including North America and Europe, while also promoting the island’s unique attractions. The increase in flights will benefit both tourism and business sectors, enhancing economic ties between Madagascar and the UAE, and boosting trade capacity.

(PRESS RELEASE) Dubai, UAE, 2025-Jan-16 — /Travel PR News/ — Emirates has announced an increase in its flight frequency between Dubai and Madagascar, boosting services from four to six weekly flights starting 2 April 2025. This expansion is a response to the growing demand for travel to the island, particularly in light of the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela, the world’s largest spiritual gathering. By adding these extra flights, Emirates aims to support Madagascar’s tourism growth and further enhance its connection to global markets.

The new schedule will see flights operating daily except on Mondays, providing convenient connections for travelers from various parts of the world, including North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Emirates’ service between Antananarivo and Dubai also facilitates better access to Madagascar’s vibrant tourism sector, allowing for more seamless travel to and from the island.

At a press conference in Antananarivo, Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Senior Vice President of Emirates, emphasized the positive impact this expansion would have on both tourism and business travel to Madagascar, boosting economic ties between the UAE and the island. “This additional capacity not only enhances connectivity but also supports Madagascar’s growing leisure and business sectors. We are excited to see the positive ripple effect of these enhanced air links on local communities and businesses,” he said.

The expanded schedule, linking Dubai to Antananarivo with a stopover in Mahe, aims to serve the increasing passenger and cargo demands. With the ability to carry up to 20 tonnes of cargo per flight, the expansion will also benefit trade between the two regions. Emirates has been instrumental in promoting Madagascar’s unique biodiversity and UNESCO World Heritage Sites to its global network, further solidifying its role in driving sustainable tourism growth.

The increased frequency, in collaboration with the local governments and ministries of transport and tourism, is expected to help Madagascar achieve its tourism goal of welcoming one million international visitors by 2028.
