Exercise will have no impact on flight operations, but airline passengers and motorists may notice numerous emergency vehicles in and around the airport
NEW YORK, NY, 2015-10-15 — /Travel PR News/ — The Port Authority is advising aviation passengers and motorists that an emergency response exercise will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newark Liberty International Airport on Saturday, October 17. The exercise will not delay flight operations, but the public may notice simulated smoke and numerous emergency vehicles around the airport.
Saturday’s exercise will test the airport’s emergency plan for mutual aid response, the airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting unit and local emergency responders to train together. The exercise will include members of the Port Authority Police Department, Newark, Elizabeth, Union County, Essex County, N.J. police and fire departments, the American Red Cross and other emergency responders.
