Bristol, United Kingdom, 2013-10-02 — /travelprnews.com/ — easyJet has today announced two new routes for Bristol Airport – with flights to Reykjavik and Marrakech launching in December 2013.
The new flights went on sale this morning at www.easyJet.com and will offer the South West’s only connection to Iceland. easyJet will operate the routes using 156 seater Airbus A319 and expects to carry over 55,000 passengers during the first 12 months.
Ali Gayward, Commercial Manager for easyJet, said: “We are pleased to announce two new routes for Bristol Airport today offering exciting new holiday destinations for people across the South West. The new flights went on sale this morning and we expect to carry around 55,000 passengers in the first year thanks to the broad appeal of Iceland and Morocco.
“Reykjavik is fast becoming one of the most popular destinations for UK holidaymakers who are attracted to the fantastic scenery and natural beauty as well as the thriving bar and restaurant scene. Marrakech boasts luxury hotels, rich history and culture and excellent shopping opportunities with a flight time of just over four hours.”
Robert Sinclair, Chief Executive Officer at Bristol Airport, said:
“Today’s announcement adds two more exciting destinations to easyJet’s extensive route network from Bristol, which is the largest available at any UK airport outside London. It also brings two new countries within easy reach from Bristol Airport, taking the total number of nations served by direct flights to 32.”
easyJet is the largest airline operating from Bristol Airport with up to 11 aircraft permanently based at the site, 420 staff employed locally and 46 destinations served. The airline flies over three million passengers to and from the airport annually.
