Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 2014-9-4 — /Travel PR News/ — Tim Bradshaw, airport director for The Eastern Iowa Airport since June 2010, has accepted a new position as the executive director of the Roanoke–Blacksburg Regional Airport in Roanoke Virginia.
During his 4-plus years at The Eastern Iowa Airport, Bradshaw made several improvements to the airport, always focusing on ways to improve the customer experience. The addition of an inline baggage system, new ticket counters, upgraded ground transportation area, updated Master Plan are just a few of the projects completed under Bradshaw’s leadership.
This summer, the airport embarked on a $47 million dollar terminal renovation project for which the airport will incur no debt, receive no local tax dollars, and will not increase fees to the airlines or tenants. The project is funded by grant dollars from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Iowa State Aviation Fund as well as passenger facility charges.
Throughout Bradshaw’s tenure, the airport has experienced record growth including eight straight months of record passenger numbers following the second best year in the airport’s history.
“It has been an honor to be a part of such a wonderful community,” Bradshaw said. “It was a hard decision to leave, but I cannot pass up the opportunity to move back home to Roanoke. I have been honored to be a part of this time in history at the airport and work with the amazing staff and tenants.”
Bradshaw will be replacing Jacqueline Shuck at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport. Schuck has served as executive director there since 1989.
Josh Schamberger, Cedar Rapids Airport Commission Chair, said they wish Bradshaw the best in his new position and thank him for his service to the community and the airport.
“Bradshaw was instrumental in building strong relationships between the airport and the community,” Schamberger said. “He has been able to bring together area land owners and help facilitate the certification of a Supersite on a combination of airport property and adjacent land owner’s property. He has served on several committees and boards in the area to facilitate the airport as a resource and asset to the community.”
Schamberger said the commission will take steps to conduct a nationwide search to replace Bradshaw.
