EASA welcomes the publication of the final report on the safety investigation of the accident of flight AF 447 on 1 June 2009

2012-07-19 — /travelprnews.com/ — The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) welcomes today’s publication by the BEA (French Civil Aviation Safety Investigation Authority) of the Final Report on the safety investigation of the accident of flight AF 447 on 1 June 2009. The lessons learned from this accident will help to advance aviation safety.

EASA has already taken a number of certification and rulemaking actions following the accident and the BEA interim accident reports.

The Agency updated technical standards for pitot tubes, launched a rulemaking task proposing new certification standards for flight in icing conditions, and contributed to a research project on high altitude icing.

EASA is also taking action on pilot training. Work is on-going on an Automation Policy, which focuses on crew-automation interaction and related issues in aircraft design, certification, training principles and regulatory provisions.

The Agency will address the Safety Recommendations in the BEA’s Final Report. EASA is committed to its task of improving aviation safety and will continue to work closely with regulators, accident investigation boards and the entire aviation industry.
