Dusit Thani Manila partners with Habitat for Humanity to provide shelter to families affected by Typhoon Haiyan
Manila, Philippines, 2014-1-7 — /travelprnews.com/ — Dusit Thani Manila partners with Habitat for Humanity in providing shelter to families affected by Typhoon Haiyan through the ‘Give a Gift of Home’ program. The hotel provides an avenue for the guests to support Habitat for Humanity’s cause by offering ways to donate. Habitat’s program aims to help the families by repairing 30,000 damaged houses through distribution of shelter repair kits (construction materials and tools worth USD349), and in the following months, start building 30,000 core houses (typhoon & earthquake resilient design at USD2,790 per unit).
A ceremonial lighting of the ‘FIRST LIGHT’, a work of art by Filipino Furniture Designer Kenneth Cobonpue was held to signify and seal the partnership of Dusit Thani Manila and Habitat for Humanity. The art work is on exhibit at the hotel’s lobby until February 2014.
