Doncaster, England, 2016-Aug-04 — /Travel PR News/ — A Doncaster library is benefiting from a generous £900 donation from Doncaster Sheffield Airport so that it can get out and about into the community more.
Askern Community Library, which is managed by Re-Read, successfully applied for the money from the Yorkshire airport’s Community Investment Fund so it could buy two sturdy events tents and display flags to be used at outdoor community fetes, festivals and galas.
Judith Smith, service manager at Re-Read, said: “We are absolutely delighted with this donation because it means that the British weather can’t spoil our fun and we can continue to get out and about.
“There have been a few occasions in previous years where we had to cancel attending an event because the weather was bad and it is vital we are able to keep our books dry. The special event tents have already come into great use and we have attended seven community events already this year with five more planned in throughout August. It has made such a difference to us knowing that we can keep our schedule of activity up whatever the weather. With two tents, we can even go to two events on the same day!
“We would like to thank Doncaster Sheffield Airport for its very kind donation which has made a real difference to us as we continue to give people free access to books, breaking down any potential barriers to reading and ensuring as many people as possible can benefit from the enjoyment of books and reading.”
Kellie Naylor, environment and community officer at Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: “Our community fund exists to help to support local charities and causes and it is a privilege to be able to support projects such as this one at Askern Community Library.
“We already know that the tents have been really well used and that the local community is benefiting from them already. We were really pleased to be able to help.”
