Travel technology company extends booking engine to support new product category.
The connection to Allianz Global Assistance has been developed specifically for STA Travel and provides the youth travel specialist with a far more streamlined process for selling insurance. Travel Insurance can now be purchased by the customer seamlessly within the same booking journey as flights, accommodation, car-rental and other travel products sourced via Dolphin’s point of sale solution.
The core system enhancements to Dolphin’s point of sale module to support insurance as a product type will enable Dolphin to implement connections to other insurance providers in future.
All Allianz Global Assistance insurance products booked via Dolphin are added to a single travel shopping-basket and automatically included in a consolidated customer booking confirmation. This significantly speeds-up the booking process by eliminating the need to visit the Allianz Global Assistance website to sell insurance and then re-key customer and product data manually into Dolphin.
Other features supported in the live link include the ability to compare the price and inclusions for the full set of single and multi-trip policies that meet the requirements specified by the user. There is also the option to sell the full range of add-ons offered by Allianz.
Roberto Da Re, CEO at Dolphin Dynamics commented, “Travel companies can earn healthy margins from selling insurance, but sometimes the commercial opportunity is reduced by the time it takes to find and book suitable insurance products and then manage them via a back office system. By working with Allianz Global Assistance to introduce this live connectivity, Dolphin now offers our joint customers the same workflow efficiencies when selling insurance that they already enjoy when selling other travel products from Dolphin”.
Lee Taylor, Chief Sales Officer for Allianz Global Assistance UK commented, “We work closely with all our partners to deliver a range of insurance products and services designed to bring its customers cover they can trust and a seamless level of service.”
