(PRESS RELEASE) Berlin, Germany, 2024-Nov-15 — /Travel PR News/ — Design Hotels, the globally recognized portfolio of nearly 300 independent properties, has announced the signing of 29 new agreements over the past year, marking a 10% growth in its portfolio. These new additions span across major destinations including the United States, Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey, Singapore, Bali, and more. From the picturesque Black Sea coast of Batumi, Georgia, to the trendy Tribeca neighborhood in New York City, the new properties reflect the brand’s ethos of individuality, creativity, and community.

Stijn Oyen, Managing Director of Design Hotels, shared his enthusiasm for the brand’s expansion, stating, “Every property in our portfolio embodies the unique vision of its owner, and as we grow, we remain committed to deepening community connections and providing guests with a personal, transformative experience. This expansion reinforces Design Hotels’ role as a leader in the hospitality industry, pushing boundaries and embracing innovation.”

Design Hotels is strengthening its presence in the U.S. and Mexico, adding seven new destinations across both countries, including ten new hotels in the United States and expanding to over 25 hotels in Mexico. These developments include partnerships with renowned hotel groups like Firmdale Hotels, Grupo Habita, Drift Hotels, and ASH. Notable new additions include The Warren Street Hotel in New York, the latest in the Firmdale collection, and the chic Drift Nashville, which opened in July 2024, featuring minimalist design and vibrant dining options curated by local hospitality talent.

The brand’s Californian portfolio continues to expand with the signing of Hotel 850 SVB in West Hollywood, envisioned by hotelier Jeff Klein, and the anticipated Granger Hotel Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego, set to open later this year. These will join Design Hotels’ 14 properties in California, including newly added hotels in Santa Barbara and Palm Springs.

In Mexico, Design Hotels continues to expand with a pipeline of 26 properties, including the upcoming Tinte Hotel in the Yucatán Peninsula, offering breathtaking ocean views from its rooftop, and Hotel Sevilla, a restored colonial villa in Mérida, slated to open in 2025. Other exciting additions include Hotel Humano, a boutique hotel built into the bedrock of Puerto Escondido, also part of Grupo Habita.

Design Hotels also strengthens its footprint in Switzerland, welcoming Home Hotel Zurich, which opened in August 2024. The hotel channels the spirit of the Dada avant-garde movement, offering 132 rooms in a reimagined former paper mill. Another standout is Hôtel Borsari in Martigny, Switzerland, which combines contemporary design with the town’s rich Roman heritage.

New properties in Georgia, Istanbul, Singapore, and Bali further enrich Design Hotels’ diverse portfolio. Notably, Rooms Batumi Hotel in Georgia brings a bold 1970s-inspired design to the Black Sea coast, offering 120 rooms and a rooftop pool.

As the brand continues to grow, Design Hotels is leveraging Marriott’s global distribution channels, enhancing its services in public relations, sales, digital marketing, and content creation, as well as integrating with the Marriott Bonvoy® travel program.

This announcement marks a new chapter for Design Hotels under the leadership of Stijn Oyen, appointed Managing Director earlier this year. Oyen expressed excitement about the future, saying, “With a wealth of opportunities ahead, I’m honored to lead Design Hotels as we expand into new territories and further realize our vision for the brand’s future.”
