Delaware North U.K. Expands Culinary Talent Programme with Newham College Partnership

(IN SHORT) Delaware North U.K. has expanded its College Partnership Programme by teaming up with Newham College in London to offer culinary students practical experience in hospitality and foodservice. The programme, launched at London Stadium, provides students with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on skills from industry professionals. Delaware North U.K. aims to nurture future talent for major events, emphasizing its commitment to developing young chefs through these partnerships.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, England, 2025-Feb-17 — /Travel PR News/ — Delaware North U.K. has expanded its College Partnership Programme with Newham College in London, a move that underscores the company’s dedication to cultivating the next generation of hospitality talent. This initiative was officially launched at London Stadium, where Delaware North serves as the hospitality partner, and kicked off with a culinary workshop hosted by Head Chefs Easwaran Muthusamy and Mark Constable. On February 4, eight students from Newham College, which recently merged with Newham Sixth Form College to create a larger institution, participated in the hands-on workshop, aiming to gain valuable culinary skills as part of their hospitality and catering courses.

Newham College, with campuses spread across East London, offers aspiring chefs, aged 16 and up, a blend of practical and theoretical culinary training. Delaware North’s collaboration with the college aligns with its mission to provide local youth with hands-on experiences and opportunities to develop their talents in the hospitality sector. The programme offers students the chance to learn from industry professionals and gain insights into the real-world demands of the foodservice industry.

Gary Foakes, Head of Culinary Development for Delaware North U.K., expressed his pride in hosting the students and emphasized the importance of such partnerships. He noted that former students from a similar collaboration with West Herts College at Wembley Stadium have advanced within Delaware North, now holding prominent positions and contributing to prestigious events like the FA Cup Final. “It’s already evident from the enthusiasm and skill we saw this week that Newham College has a pool of future culinary talent, and we are eager to see which of them will shine as part of our team,” Foakes said.

During the workshop, the students worked alongside Muthusamy and Constable, preparing dishes suitable for service in one of the stadium’s hospitality lounges. The students used market vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients, focusing on seasonal produce and incorporating professional cooking techniques to create flavorful and visually appealing dishes. The chefs also provided valuable lessons on food safety and how they enhance the matchday experience with their culinary offerings.

Muhit Kashim, a careers advisor at Newham College, highlighted the significance of such collaborations. “Employer and college partnerships like these are essential in nurturing talent and helping students reach their full potential in their chosen fields,” Kashim said.

Through this initiative, Delaware North U.K. remains committed to its College Partnership Programme, offering students the chance to gain hands-on experience in event and stadium hospitality, and providing a pathway for the next wave of young chefs to enter the dynamic world of large-scale events.
