SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, 2022-Sep-22 — /Travel PR News/ — Dean & Nancy on 22 at A by Adina Sydney will take guests on a tour around the world via their new cocktail menu which launches Wednesday, September 28.
The menu, presented like a concertina map, unfolds to reveal 12 cocktails inspired by interesting corners of the globe fictional characters ‘Dean and Nancy’ have visited. Each cocktail is named after an iconic international landmark with the ingredients and creative concept tying back into the produce and/or flavours of the country it is located in.
The Whitney Museum in New York City is the inspiration for the Basquiat cocktail. Named after acclaimed American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat who at 22 was one of the youngest artists to exhibit at the Whitney Biennial in New York, the Basquiat ($32) is a twist on a classic Manhattan cocktail. Michter’s Rye Whiskey has been infused with coconut oil and combined with Cocchi Storico Vermouth di Torino, Talisker 10yo whisky, Cherry Heering and house-made cocoa bitters resulting in an oily, smoky finish. A chocolate disc tops the cocktail, featuring a design reminiscent of Basquiat’s work.
Take one look at the bold and bright Thera ($27) and memories of Santorini holidays will come flooding back. Thera, the classic Greek name for Santorini, pays homage to the mesmerising blue hue of the ocean and the whitewashed houses this Cyclades island is so well known for. Beefeater gin infused with chamomile, blue Curaçao, yuzu sake, falernum, lemon and grapefruit make this a fresh and fruity option while the Four Pillars Olive Leaf gin foam is the reminder you need to book that trip to the Greek Islands.
The unmissable Giza ($27) provides an extra layer of fun through the pyramid-inspired, conical glass the cocktail is served in. Presented with a flurry of smoke, the Giza combines Absolut Vodka, Mr Black Coffee Liqueur, Lagavulin 16yo Whisky, raspberry, hibiscus burnt honey and Sammy Junior Filter Coffee resulting in a bona fide showstopper.
Also on the list is the Taj Mahal ($27) served in a chai latte cup from a vintage teapot which will be brought to the table. This refreshing, milk-style punch has notes of mango and almond plus warmth from Bacardi Carta Blanca Rum, Avallen Calvados and Noilly Prat Vermouth. Meanwhile, the Sugar Loaf ($27) takes its name from the Brazilian mountain peak in Rio de Janeiro and honours the large contingent of Japanese population that reside in the country. Banana kakigōri, a traditional Japanese shaved iced dessert, forms the basis of this engaging cocktail with Havana 7yo rum, Yaguara Branca Cachaca and Campari building it out.
The creative direction of this new cocktail menu, the first major menu change since Dean & Nancy on 22 launched in May 2021, reflects the evolving travel interests of guests, according to Dean & Nancy on 22 Creative Director Martin Hudak.
“There is much more confidence to travel overseas now so we wanted to send our fictional characters, Dean and Nancy, abroad to shine a light on some of the iconic landmarks around the world that don’t necessarily get the same attention others do. We have the luxury of being on the 22nd floor of A by Adina Sydney and that height gives us a different perspective on the harbour city. It’s that lens we wanted to apply to this menu and some of our favourite travel destinations around the world,” said Martin.
The menu launches Wednesday, September 28 and has been created by Martin Hudak, Dean & Nancy co-founders Stefano Catino and Vince Lombardo, and venue manager Stefano Filardi.
