Prague, 2014-12-16 — /Travel PR News/ — Czech Airlines commemorates today a 50-year anniversary of launching its regular scheduled connection between Prague and Frankfurt on the Main. Czechoslovak Airlines serviced its first passenger flight on the Prague – Frankfurt route by a Tupolev Tu-124V airplane on 15 December 1964. The carrier has transported more than 2.7 million passengers on the route during half a century of uninterrupted services. Czech Airlines currently offers two return flights between Prague and Frankfurt on every work day and one return flight on Saturdays and Sundays.
First technical flight on the Prague – Frankfurt route and back was operated by Czechoslovak Airlines on 26 November 1964 by a brand new Tupolev Tu-124V airplane with OK-TEA registration mark and the name: “Mělník”. Tupolev Tu-124V, Tu 104V and Tu-134V airplanes were used to service the route in turns. In the 1990s, Tupolev airplanes were replaced by Boeing 737 aircraft and Airbus A32S aircraft. Currently, Czech Airlines uses exclusively Airbus A319 aircraft to operate the route.
More than 2.7 million passengers have already used Czech Airlines’ regular scheduled service connecting Prague and Frankfurt. Since launching the regular service on this route, Czech Airlines has transported to/from Frankfurt almost 30 thousand tons of parcels and mail.
During the current winter schedule, i.e. from 26 October 2014 until 28 March 2015, Czech Airlines services two return frequencies to Frankfurt on work days, departing Prague at 7:10 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. At weekends, Czech Airlines offers one return frequency per day, i.e.
a morning connection on Saturdays and an evening connection on Sundays.
Alongside Frankfurt, Czech Airlines offers connections from Prague to two more German cities – Düsseldorf and Hamburg. The Hamburg service continues on to Gothenburg in Sweden, providing the only direct air connection between the two metropoles. Additionally, Czech Airlines services special flights to Braunschweig in north Germany.
