2012-12-06 — /travelprnews.com/ — For the third consecutive year, Marriott International (NYSE:MAR) was ranked #1 in the hotel sector by Climate Counts for its sustainable business practices. Climate Counts is a non-profit campaign that scores companies annually on the basis of their voluntary action to reverse climate change. Climate Counts uses a 0-to-100 point scale and 22 criteria to determine if companies have: measured their climate “footprint,” reduced their impact on global warming, supported progressive climate legislation and publicly disclosed their climate actions clearly and comprehensively. While Marriott was given the highest ranking (70 out of 100) in the hospitality sector, the company remains committed to further reduce its environmental impact.
